US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Pays Follow-Up Call to OECS Commission

OECS Media Release

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission welcomed Ms. Karin Sullivan, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and the OECS, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, for a follow-up call focused on areas of mutual interest and potential cooperation.

The engagement forms part of a series of ongoing strategic discussions between the OECS Commission and the Embassy of the United States of America throughout 2026, aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration in keeping with the Embassy’s mandate to identify and advance investment opportunities across the region.

The discussions built on a recent courtesy call by Ms. Stacy Lomba, Political and Economic Counsellor. That engagement provided an opportunity for preliminary discussions on shared interests and helped inform the continuation of dialogue with the Chargé d’Affaires.

During the October 14 meeting, Ms. Sullivan and Dr. Grant, Chief of Staff and Strategic Diplomacy at the OECS Commission, continued discussions on potential areas for technical collaboration and investment with a view to convening a technical committee to further examine potential areas of cooperation and refine proposals for possible consideration by the OECS Authority at an appropriate stage.

As the principal institution supporting regional integration and cooperation among Member States, the OECS Commission facilitates dialogue, coordination and the development of regional approaches. The engagement reflects the continued commitment of the OECS Commission and the Embassy of the United States of America to maintaining constructive dialogue and exploring opportunities for cooperation in support of shared regional interests.

Back to www.oecs.int

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is an International Organisation dedicated to economic harmonisation and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of good governance among independent and non-independent countries in the Eastern Caribbean. The OECS came into being on June 18th 1981, when seven Eastern Caribbean countries signed a treaty agreeing to cooperate with each other while promoting unity and solidarity among its Members. The Treaty became known as the Treaty of Basseterre, so named in honour of the capital city of St. Kitts and Nevis where it was signed. The OECS today, currently has twelve members, spread across the Eastern Caribbean comprising Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint Martin.
