Thank You for Joining the OECS 45th Anniversary Fun Walk in Antigua & Barbuda

OECS Media Release

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission extends sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the OECS 45th Anniversary Fun Walk held in Antigua and Barbuda on OECS Day, June 18, 2026.

The event brought together citizens, residents, partners, and supporters in a vibrant display of regional unity, wellness, and community spirit as the OECS celebrated 45 years of integration and cooperation under the theme, "One Vision, One Voice: Navigating Challenges, Shaping Our Future."

Participants gathered at the Ministry of Health Headquarters and completed the walk route despite unexpected showers alongside fellow community members, government representatives, OECS officials, development partners, and supporters of regional integration.

The OECS Commission expresses special thanks to its partners, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, the Medical Benefits Scheme, and the Geothermal Energy: Capacity Building for Utilization Investment and Local Development (GEOBUILD) Project, for their collaboration and support in making the event a success.

The annual OECS Fun Walk has become a cherished feature of the Organisation's anniversary celebrations, as it has created opportunities for citizens to engage with the vision and achievements of regional integration. Since its introduction in 2023 in St. Kitts and Nevis, the initiative has continued to grow, fostering stronger connections between communities and the mission of the OECS.

The Commission also acknowledges the volunteers, event coordinators, security personnel, healthcare teams, and media partners whose dedication contributed to the smooth execution of the activity.

Thank you for walking with us, celebrating with us, and helping to demonstrate that our greatest achievements are realized when we move forward together.

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is an International Organisation dedicated to economic harmonisation and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of good governance among independent and non-independent countries in the Eastern Caribbean. The OECS came into being on June 18th 1981, when seven Eastern Caribbean countries signed a treaty agreeing to cooperate with each other while promoting unity and solidarity among its Members. The Treaty became known as the Treaty of Basseterre, so named in honour of the capital city of St. Kitts and Nevis where it was signed. The OECS today, currently has twelve members, spread across the Eastern Caribbean comprising Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint Martin.
