OECS DIPLOMATS ATTEND INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CYCLE IN MOROCCO
Media Release
Diplomats from OECS Member States recently completed a two-week training programme in International Diplomacy and Foreign Policy in the Moroccan capital of Rabat.
The main objective of the programme was the strengthening of capacity within the Foreign Ministries of Member States, and participants were exposed to a range of issues in the fields of international diplomacy, economic development, climate change and climate diplomacy, international migration, and developments on the African continent.
The activity was one outcome of a visit by a high level mission to the Eastern Caribbean in July 2018 aimed at strengthening the existing bonds of friendship and cooperation between OECS Member States and Morocco, and followed the inauguration of a joint mission in Rabat on October 18, 2018.
The programme was conducted by the Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies (AMED) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco (MAECI). Countries were represented by a total of fifteen participants.
H.E. Abderrahim Kadmiri, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the OECS said the activity represents an expression of Morocco’s continuing commitment to the development of the region.
H.E. noted that a number of similar activities are planned in keeping with this commitment, and that they would cater to practitioners from key sectors of the economies of Member States of the Organisation.
Participants considered the training programme to be a great success.
