Looking Ahead: The 2025 OECS Invitational Boxing Championships

Following the success of the Caribbean Trophy, the spotlight now turns to the 2025 OECS Invitational Boxing Championships, set to take place in August 2025. This annual event, endorsed by the OECS Commission, continues to provide a high-caliber platform for boxers from across the region to compete at an elite level.

The 2024 edition in Saint Lucia saw the home team claim the OECS Championship title, while Trinidad and Tobago dominated the Invitational Category. The upcoming edition promises even greater excitement, featuring top talent from across the Caribbean.

Beyond the action in the ring, the event underscores a broader mission: fostering regional unity and empowering youth through sport—a vision strongly aligned with the OECS Youth Empowerment Strategy (YES), recently endorsed at the Inaugural OECS Council of Ministers: Youth and Sports.

Stronger Regional and International Competition

Momentum continues to build following recent bilateral meetings between French and St. Lucian officials. Led by St. Lucia Boxing Association President David "Shakes" Christopher and Public Relations Officer Shannon Lebourne, the meetings focused on strengthening cooperation, reviving the Creole Boxing Championships, and preparing for the upcoming OECS Boxing Championships.

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is an International Organisation dedicated to economic harmonisation and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of good governance among independent and non-independent countries in the Eastern Caribbean.
