OECS Commission Welcomes Reappointment of Dr. Didacus Jules for a Fourth Term as Director General

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Authority has approved the reappointment of Dr. Didacus Jules to a fourth term as Director General, reaffirming its confidence in his leadership and continued commitment to advancing the OECS integration agenda.

The decision was taken during the 78th Meeting of the OECS Authority, where Heads of Government commended Dr. Jules's distinguished service and significant contributions to regional development, cooperation, and institutional strengthening over the course of his tenure.

Since assuming office in 2014, Dr. Jules has played a pivotal role in advancing key regional priorities, including food sovereignty, digital transformation, healthier communities, and educational reform, while strengthening the OECS's capacity to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities facing Member States.

In approving the reappointment, the OECS Authority Former Chairman, and Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Honourable Dr. Godwin Friday, recognised Dr. Jules' strategic vision, dedication to public service, and commitment to fostering deeper regional integration and sustainable development throughout the Eastern Caribbean.

"The [reappointment] decision reflects the confidence of the Authority in your leadership and acknowledges your valuable contribution to the advancement of the OECS integration agenda and the continued strengthening of the Organisation. On behalf of the OECS Authority, I extend sincere congratulations on your reappointment and look forward to your continued service and dedication to the people and Governments of the OECS Member States."

As the OECS continues to navigate the complex geopolitical climate, the Authority underscored the importance of experienced leadership in advancing the Organisation's vision of a more integrated, resilient, and prosperous region.

The OECS Commission congratulates Dr. Jules on his reappointment and looks forward to continued collaboration in delivering meaningful benefits for the citizens of the OECS.

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is an International Organisation dedicated to economic harmonisation and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of good governance among independent and non-independent countries in the Eastern Caribbean. The OECS came into being on June 18th 1981, when seven Eastern Caribbean countries signed a treaty agreeing to cooperate with each other while promoting unity and solidarity among its Members. The Treaty became known as the Treaty of Basseterre, so named in honour of the capital city of St. Kitts and Nevis where it was signed. The OECS today, currently has twelve members, spread across the Eastern Caribbean comprising Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint Martin.
