OECS Commission launches its monthly newsletter in French!

OECS Press Release

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission is taking significant steps in strengthening communication with French-speaking Member States by launching its monthly newsletter in French. Last year the Commission upgraded the French website, launched a French newsroom and social media channels.  Earlier this year, the Commission added a French Communications Specialist to the Communications team to coordinate a cohesive French public relations agenda.  This month the Commission is launching its monthly newsletter in French.

This initiative aims to enhance access to information and engage audiences in Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Martin, and beyond.

The newsletter will provide a monthly summary of major events, as well as updates on projects, opportunities, and key events in the OECS. It offers a simple and efficient way to stay informed about progress in regional integration, economic cooperation, sustainable development, and more.

Dr. Didacus Jules, Director General of the OECS Commission, reaffirmed the importance of inclusive communication:

" The OECS is irrevocably committed to ensuring that all citizens of OECS Member States are provided with all the information available to enable them not simply to understand our integration ambition but to utilize the information provided so that they can access the fullest benefits of that integration. "

Loverly Anthony, Head of the Communications Unit, emphasized the need to reach French-speaking audiences:

" The publication of this French edition of the newsletter seeks to ensure that our French speaking audiences are as fully informed as our English speaking audiences. It signals our commitment that no Member State should be left behind in accessing information required for participation in the integration effort. "

About The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States

Back to www.oecs.int

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is an International Organisation dedicated to economic harmonisation and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of good governance among independent and non-independent countries in the Eastern Caribbean. The OECS came into being on June 18th 1981, when seven Eastern Caribbean countries signed a treaty agreeing to cooperate with each other while promoting unity and solidarity among its Members. The Treaty became known as the Treaty of Basseterre, so named in honour of the capital city of St. Kitts and Nevis where it was signed. The OECS today, currently has eleven members, spread across the Eastern Caribbean comprising Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Martinique and Guadeloupe.
