WHAT: The Fourth Meeting of the Economic Affairs Council is a pivotal gathering of leaders and key stakeholders from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). This event will focus on advancing significant economic initiatives under the OECS Economic Union. Discussions and decisions will address critical areas, including:
- Reviewing the OECS Development Strategy 2024–2030 to guide sustainable economic growth.
- Advancing the Eastern Caribbean Economic Union Implementation Index, a tool to measure progress on regional integration.
- Strengthening the Customs Union and facilitating the free circulation of goods.
- Implementing the Free Movement of Persons Regime, including contingent rights and social security portability.
- Developing the Free Trade in Services Regime to enhance competitiveness.
- Establishing a framework for Competition Policy and Law within the union.
This meeting is a critical step toward fostering regional integration, promoting economic collaboration, and addressing sustainable development challenges within the OECS.
