Launch of the OHADAC–CARO Project Under the Auspices of the INTERREG VI Caribbean Programme (2021–2027)

ACP Legal and the CARO Centre strengthen their mission to support legal cooperation in the Caribbean

The OHADAC Regional Arbitration Centre (CARO) and the ACP Legal Association have organised the official launch ceremony of the OHADAC–CARO project under the auspices of the new INTERREG VI Caribbean programme (2021–2027). The event will be held at the CARO Centre’s premises in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, on July 11, starting at 10:30 a.m. It will also be livestreamed to ensure broad participation.

A renewed ambition for regional cooperation

This institutional event aims to:

  • Present the strategic directions of the OHADAC–CARO project under the INTERREG VI Caribbean programme;
  • Highlight new partnerships and institutional support, in particular the partnership with the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), as well as support from the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD);
  • Showcase the CARO Centre’s renewed commitment to access to justice, the resolution of international disputes through mediation and arbitration, and legal security in the Caribbean region;
  • Promote the importance of the French Caribbean territories’ contribution to the region’s legal and economic development.

Mobilising local and regional stakeholders

The launch will bring together project partners and institutional and economic stakeholders. A tour of the CARO Centre will be offered at the end of the ceremony. A press briefing is planned at the close of the ceremony, with opportunities for one-on-one interviews with journalists.

Hybrid broadcast and dedicated press welcome

To ensure broad visibility for the event, it will also be broadcast live via the Zoom platform. A dedicated press reception, including refreshments, will be available from 9:30 a.m. for accredited journalists.

Back to www.oecs.int

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is an International Organisation dedicated to economic harmonisation and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of good governance among independent and non-independent countries in the Eastern Caribbean. The OECS came into being on June 18th 1981, when seven Eastern Caribbean countries signed a treaty agreeing to cooperate with each other while promoting unity and solidarity among its Members. The Treaty became known as the Treaty of Basseterre, so named in honour of the capital city of St. Kitts and Nevis where it was signed. The OECS today, currently has twelve members, spread across the Eastern Caribbean comprising Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint Martin.
