7 February, 2025 – Fort-de-France, Martinique — The Caribbean sports community takes another step forward as Marvin Jno Baptiste, President of the NGO Caribbean Sport & Sustainable Development, met today with the President of the local Government of Martinique, Serge Letchimy and the President of the Martinique basketball league, Raymond Petit-Frere to discuss strategic plans for the highly anticipated 2025 Kréyol Basketball Championship.
The discussions, held in Fort-de-France, focused on finalizing tournament preparations and strengthening regional collaboration to elevate the level of basketball in the Caribbean. One of the key highlights of the meeting was the announcement that the Central Conference of the Kréyol Basketball Championship will be hosted in Martinique in June 2025, reinforcing the island’s commitment to developing high-level basketball competitions and promoting sports tourism in the region.
The Martinique Team Qualifier Tournament, currently underway, is a crucial step in determining the teams that will represent the island in the upcoming championship.
