Affirming our Values and Beliefs: OECS Commission and Sir Arthur Lewis Community College partner for staff reward lunch

The OECS Commission and Sir Arthur Lewis Community College recently partnered to host a five star staff reward lunch held last week in honor of the winners of the OECS team building day held at Pigeon Island National Landmark.

Hospitality students from Sir Arthur Lewis College were invited to demonstrate their hospitality skills in a professional restaurant set-up at the Commission.  Students were given the opportunity to put into practice their learnt skills with lots of positive feedback from staff as to their professionalism.

Head of Human Resources Gale Jean Baptise said the day was not only about rewarding the winning team but affirmation of the significant contribution all staff were making each and every day, while recognizing the upcoming leaders of tomorrow such as those students from Sir Arthur Lewis College.

Both the OECS Commission and Sir Arthur Lewis have reaffirmed their willingness to explore other partnership opportunities going forward to support the skills and training of young people.

This story aligns with OECS Strategic Objective No.5: Align and strengthen the institutional systems of the Commission to effectively deliver its mandate.

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is an International Organisation dedicated to economic harmonisation and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of good governance among independent and non-independent countries in the Eastern Caribbean. The OECS came into being on June 18th 1981, when seven Eastern Caribbean countries signed a treaty agreeing to cooperate with each other while promoting unity and solidarity among its Members. The Treaty became known as the Treaty of Basseterre, so named in honour of the capital city of St. Kitts and Nevis where it was signed. The OECS today, currently has eleven members, spread across the Eastern Caribbean comprising Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Martinique and Guadeloupe.
